Why NikPAD
Everything you expect, faster.
Real syntax highlighting
A fast, stateful tokenizer colours 40+ languages as you type — comments, strings and nesting included.
Tabs & find/replace
Multi-tab editing with unsaved-change warnings, regex search, replace-all and go-to-line.
Encodings done right
UTF-8 with BOM, UTF-16, Windows-1252 fallback, and CRLF / LF / CR line endings preserved.
55+ skins & dark mode
The full Nikkomander skin set, plus a one-click sun / moon toggle between dark and bright.
Safe saves
Atomic write to a temp file then rename, so a crash can never corrupt your work.
Automatic updates
NikPAD checks for new releases on start and every minute, with a one-click skip version.
